Slush It Zero Sugar-Free Mix
Slush It Zero is formulated as a sugar-free slushy product. Do not automatically add sugar, glucose or another sweetener simply because conventional slushy machines normally rely on sugar for freezing characteristics. Prepare the product exactly according to the current instructions on your Slush It Zero bottle and follow the settings recommended for your machine.
Slushy Troubleshooting & FAQs
Can I use Slush It in a Ninja SLUSHi?
Yes. Fun Foods Direct Slush It can be used in Ninja SLUSHi and Ninja SLUSHi Max machines. Standard Slush It uses a 1:4 concentrate-to-water ratio. Always remain within your Ninja's minimum and maximum fill levels and follow the machine operating instructions.
Can I use Slush It in a commercial slushy machine?
Yes. Slush It is suitable for compatible commercial frozen-drink machines used in cafés, cinemas, dessert bars, food trucks, entertainment venues, events and other businesses. Standard Slush It concentrate mixes at 1 part concentrate to 4 parts water unless your individual product instructions state otherwise.
What slushy machines can I use Slush It in?
Fun Foods Direct Slush It concentrates can be used in many home and commercial slushy machines. Examples include Ninja SLUSHi, Ninja SLUSHi Max, Kmart, Kogan and Devanti home machines, as well as compatible commercial machines including SPM, Icetro, Elmeco, CAB, Polar, Donper, Frosty Factory and Snowmaster. Other compatible brands can also be used.
Why isn't my slushy freezing?
First check that the syrup-to-water ratio is correct. Use cold ingredients, make sure the machine is not overfilled and allow sufficient freezing time. If alcohol has been added, remember that alcohol lowers the freezing point and can prevent the mixture from forming a proper slush. For Slush It Zero, use the specific preparation instructions supplied with that product.
Why is my slushy watery?
The mix may still be too warm, the machine may require more processing time, the batch may be too large, or the machine's cooling system may not yet have reached operating temperature. Check the ratio and allow the machine additional time.
Why is my slushy too icy or hard?
Check that too much water has not been added. For standard Slush It syrup, use 1 part syrup to 4 parts water. Also check your machine's texture or temperature setting if it provides one.
Why does my slushy taste weak?
Too much water is the most common cause. For standard Slush It, 200ml syrup plus 800ml water makes 1 litre of prepared mix.
Do I need to add sugar?
No additional sugar is required when Fun Foods Direct slushy products are prepared according to their individual instructions. Do not alter a product's formulation unless a recipe specifically tells you to do so.
Can I make a slushy without a machine?
Yes. Standard slushy syrup can also be used with ice in a suitable blender to create a frozen slushy-style drink. The result will differ from a continuously churned commercial slushy machine.
Can I add alcohol?
Yes, our cocktail and suitable slushy mixes can be used for frozen cocktails. Alcohol affects freezing, so do not simply add large amounts to a normal recipe. For best results, follow the relevant cocktail recipe or add alcohol after the slushy has formed where appropriate.

Soft Serve Mix Help
Preparation, mixing ratios, Ninja and home machines, commercial soft serve machines, consistency, thickshakes and storage.
Important: Not every Fun Foods Direct soft serve flavour uses exactly the same powder-to-water ratio. Many current 1kg products use 2.5L cold water, while some specialty products have different instructions. Always use the ratio printed on the individual product you purchased.
1️⃣
Add Cold Water
Measure the amount of cold water specified on your individual product instructions into a clean food-safe mixing container.
2️⃣
Add the Powder
Add the measured soft serve powder and whisk or blend thoroughly until the mixture is smooth and free from dry powder.
3️⃣
Rest & Freeze
Where instructed, allow the prepared mix to stand for approximately 10 minutes before adding it to your machine, then freeze according to your machine manufacturer's directions.

What Machines Can I Use Fun Foods Direct Soft Serve Mix In?
Fun Foods Direct soft serve mixes can be used across a wide range of compatible commercial and home frozen-dessert machines. You do not need to own a traditional commercial soft serve machine to use our mixes.
🏠
Home & Benchtop Machines
Depending on the preparation method, our soft serve mixes can be used with compatible home frozen-dessert equipment including:
- Ninja CREAMi
- Ninja Swirl
- Ninja SLUSHi
- Ninja SLUSHi Max
- Kmart dessert makers
- Home ice cream machines
- Benchtop frozen-dessert makers
- Compatible home soft serve dispensers
- Other compatible frozen-dessert machines
🏪
Commercial Soft Serve Machines
Our soft serve mixes are also suitable for compatible commercial equipment including:
- Gravity-fed soft serve machines
- Pump-fed soft serve machines
- Benchtop commercial soft serve machines
- Floor-standing soft serve machines
- Single-flavour machines
- Twin-flavour / twist machines
- Frozen yoghurt machines
- Other compatible commercial frozen-dessert equipment
Different machines use different preparation methods: A Ninja CREAMi generally requires the prepared mixture to be frozen before processing, while a traditional commercial soft serve machine freezes and churns liquid mix inside the machine. Ninja SLUSHi machines also use a different freezing system and can produce a soft-serve-style frozen dessert, but the finished texture and aeration may differ from traditional commercial soft serve.
Using another machine? The machines above are examples rather than an exhaustive list. If your machine is designed to prepare ice cream, soft serve or compatible frozen desserts, our mixes may be suitable. Follow the preparation method for the individual product and your machine manufacturer's instructions.
Example preparation: Several current 1kg Fun Foods Direct soft serve products specify 1kg powder + 2.5L cold water, whisk until smooth, rest for approximately 10 minutes and then add to the machine. This is an example only — always check your specific flavour before mixing.
Soft Serve Troubleshooting & FAQs
Can I use Fun Foods Direct soft serve mix in a commercial machine?
Yes. Fun Foods Direct soft serve mixes are suitable for compatible commercial soft serve machines, including gravity-fed, pump-fed, benchtop and larger floor-standing commercial units. They can also be used in compatible frozen yoghurt equipment. Follow the preparation instructions for your individual soft serve mix and your machine manufacturer's operating instructions.
Can I use Fun Foods Direct soft serve mix in a Ninja machine?
Yes. Fun Foods Direct soft serve mixes can be used with compatible Ninja frozen-dessert machines including Ninja CREAMi and Ninja Swirl. They can also be used to produce a soft-serve-style frozen dessert in Ninja SLUSHi and Ninja SLUSHi Max machines. Preparation differs between machine types, so follow the preparation method appropriate for your Ninja model.
What other home machines can I use for soft serve?
Depending on the preparation method, Fun Foods Direct soft serve mixes can be used in compatible Kmart dessert makers, home ice cream machines, benchtop frozen-dessert machines and other suitable home equipment. Because freezing and aeration methods differ between machines, the finished texture may vary.
Will soft serve taste or look the same in every machine?
Not necessarily. Different machines freeze, churn and incorporate air differently. A commercial soft serve machine is specifically designed to produce a smooth, aerated and directly dispensed soft serve, while home frozen-dessert machines may produce a slightly different texture. The mix can still be used successfully when prepared correctly for the machine.
How much water do I add to soft serve mix?
Check the preparation instructions for your exact flavour and pack size. Many current 1kg Fun Foods Direct soft serve products use 2.5L of cold water, but specialty formulations can differ. Do not assume every bag uses the same ratio.
Why is my soft serve too runny?
Check the water quantity first. Excess water can reduce body and flavour. Also make sure the prepared mix was cold, properly mixed and given any required resting time. The machine may also need more freezing time or adjustment according to its manual.
Why is my soft serve too thick?
Confirm the correct amount of water was added and that the powder was fully dispersed. If the recipe is correct, check the machine's hardness or freezing setting and follow the manufacturer's guidance.
Why is the powder lumpy?
Add the powder gradually to the measured liquid while whisking or blending. A stick mixer can help disperse difficult lumps. Do not pour a large amount of powder into a small pool of liquid and leave it sitting before mixing.
Can I make soft serve without a traditional soft serve machine?
Yes. You do not necessarily need a traditional commercial soft serve machine. Compatible home frozen-dessert equipment such as Ninja CREAMi, Ninja Swirl, Ninja SLUSHi, selected dessert makers and ice cream machines can be used with appropriate preparation methods. The finished texture may differ depending on how the machine freezes and aerates the product.
Can soft serve mix be used for thickshakes?
Some Fun Foods Direct products are specifically designed for both applications. For example, our Coffee Soft Serve & Thickshake Mix can be prepared as soft serve or blended with milk as a thickshake. Follow the directions for the particular product.
How should prepared soft serve mix be stored?
Prepared dairy-containing mix is perishable. Keep it refrigerated and follow the product label, your machine manufacturer's food-safety instructions and applicable food-handling requirements. Do not leave prepared mix sitting at room temperature for extended periods.

Popcorn Help
Popcorn kernels, buttery popcorn oil, popcorn salt, home preparation and commercial popcorn machines.
Cinema-Style Popcorn Starting Ratio
🧈
Popcorn Oil 2–3 tablespoons
🧂
Popcorn Salt 1–2 teaspoons
🍳 Making Popcorn in a Pot
Heat 2–3 tablespoons of popcorn oil in a large pot. Add a few test kernels and cover. Once they pop, add approximately ½ cup kernels and 1–2 teaspoons popcorn salt. Cover and shake gently while popping. Remove from heat once popping slows.
🍿 Using a Popcorn Machine
Add the appropriate popcorn oil, kernels and seasoning to the kettle according to the machine manufacturer's capacity and instructions. Do not exceed the kettle's rated batch size.
Why are lots of kernels not popping?
Make sure the cooking surface or kettle has reached the correct temperature before adding the full batch. Old or poorly stored kernels can also lose moisture and pop less effectively.
Why is my popcorn burning?
Excessive heat, insufficient movement or leaving popped corn in the heated kettle too long can cause burning. Follow your machine instructions and remove the batch once popping slows significantly.
When should I add popcorn seasoning?
Fine movie-style popcorn salt can be used during popping where your recipe and machine permit it. Other seasoning flavours are often best applied to freshly popped warm popcorn so they adhere effectively.
How do I make the seasoning stick?
Season while the popcorn is warm. A light coating of suitable popcorn oil can also help dry seasoning adhere more evenly.

Fairy Floss Help
Ready-to-use fairy floss sugar, machine preparation and troubleshooting.
Ready to use: Fun Foods Direct ready-to-use fairy floss sugar is already prepared for fairy floss machines. You do not need to separately add flavour or colour.
1. Preheat
Make sure the machine is clean and dry, then preheat according to its instructions. Current Fun Foods Direct guidance suggests approximately 3–5 minutes for suitable machines.
2. Add Sugar
Add the ready-to-use fairy floss sugar to the spinner head. Do not overfill the head.
3. Collect & Serve
Allow strands to form, then rotate a paper stick or cone around the bowl to collect the fairy floss. Serve promptly for the best texture.
Why isn't my fairy floss forming properly?
Make sure the machine is fully preheated, clean and completely dry. Check that the spinner head is not overfilled and that sugar residue has not obstructed the machine.
Why is the sugar sticking or clumping?
Moisture and humidity can cause sugar to clump. Keep the product sealed and store it in a cool, dry location.
Do I add colour or flavour?
Not when using Fun Foods Direct ready-to-use flavoured fairy floss sugar. The product is already coloured and flavoured.

Bakery Mix Help
Help for Fun Foods Direct waffle, pancake, donut, churro and other bakery-style mixes.
Check the individual product: Our bakery mixes have different recipes depending on the product. Use the preparation instructions on the product page or packaging rather than applying one universal water ratio to every bakery mix.
🧇 Waffle Mix
Measure your mix and liquid according to the product directions, combine until an even batter forms and cook in a properly preheated waffle iron. Avoid overfilling the plates.
🥞 Pancake Mix
Prepare according to the individual product ratio and cook on a preheated, lightly greased surface. Allow bubbles to form before turning where appropriate.
🍩 Donut & Churro Mixes
Follow the individual mix instructions carefully, particularly for water quantity, resting, frying or machine temperature. Incorrect batter consistency can affect shape, cooking and oil absorption.
☕
Coffee, Cocktail & Drink Syrup Help
Preparation guidance for flavoured drinks, coffee syrups, milkshakes, thickshakes and cocktail applications.
☕ Coffee Syrups
Add syrup to hot or iced coffee according to your preferred flavour strength and the individual product serving suggestion. Stir or combine thoroughly before serving.
🍹 Cocktail Mixes
Use according to the recipe on the individual product. For frozen cocktails, remember that alcohol changes freezing behaviour and should not simply replace unlimited amounts of water.
🥤 Milkshakes & Thickshakes
Dessert and milkshake syrups can be blended with milk, ice cream or an appropriate shake base. Adjust flavour strength and thickness according to the individual product and desired result.
🍨
Dessert Toppings, Crunch & Add-Ons
Help using dessert sauces, sundae toppings, Crunch products, nuts, crumbs and ready-to-use dessert additions.
🍫 Dessert Sauces
Many Fun Foods Direct dessert toppings are ready to use. Shake where directed and drizzle over soft serve, ice cream, waffles, pancakes, donuts or blend into milkshakes and frappes.
🥄 Crunch & Mix-Ins
Sprinkle over soft serve, sundaes, yoghurt bowls, waffles and other desserts, or layer through dessert cups. Always use a clean, dry utensil when serving from larger containers.
🥜 Nuts & Garnishes
Crushed nuts and dry garnishes can be sprinkled directly over desserts or incorporated into suitable recipes. Store according to the individual product instructions and allergen requirements.
Some commercial sundae toppings have specific after-opening storage requirements. Always check the individual label. For example, certain Fun Foods Direct 1.2kg sundae toppings require refrigeration after opening.
🧂
Seasoning, Spice & Shaker Help
How to use Fun Foods Direct seasonings on chips, popcorn, chicken, wedges and other foods.
How to Apply
For most shaker seasonings, apply to freshly cooked food while it is still warm, then toss or shake to distribute evenly. Start with a light application and add more to taste.
Storage
Keep dry seasoning tightly sealed in a cool, dry place away from direct sunlight and moisture. Avoid shaking directly over heavy steam, as moisture entering the container can cause clumping.
